Warren Names Owls Among Leaders

Owl Sports Watch spoke with San Antonio Roosevelt Offensive Lineman Justin Warren Wednesday night and learned that the Rice Owls are among the leaders for the athletic Left Tackle's verbal commit.
"I've got 2 at the top right now, Colorado and Rice. Oh and you can add Utah to that too."

Though Warren isn't quite ready physically for the college game right now, he is projected by several college programs to be around 6-5 290 in college. Warren's father is over 6-6, and Justin has an older brother that's 6-7.
Warren has great feet, and as we mentioned is quite athletic, boasting a vertical leap just under 30 inches. He's also run a 4.7 second pro shuttle.
Standing 6-3 245 right now he's already done enough to have gained offers from Rice, Colorado, Duke, Iowa State, UT-San Antonio, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Utah. He describes himself as a player that utilizes every practice to get better - music to a coach's ears.
"I'm a guy that plays to the whistle. I really work hard on my technique in practice and try to get better every day. I like to get the most from every practice."
With his excellent mobility, Warren has even drawn consideration as a Defensive lineman by some recruiters.
"I went to the Baylor Camp and they had me play Defense. They said I did pretty good for my first time playing there. I'm a Left Tackle for my team but if someone wants me to play Defense that's fine too."
Warren is a originally from New Orleans. His family relocated to San Antonio during Hurricane Katrina.
"The whole family liked San Antonio so much we decided to stay."
Justin will be coming to Rice on an unofficial visit July 18th with his family.
It would seem Rice would have a great shot to land the scholarly Warren.
"I'm interested in Chemical Engineering. I love Chemistry and Math so I think that's the major I'd like to pursue."
Warren is a 2009 preseason Second Team Academic All-State selection by Randy Rodgers of the Rodgers Recruiting Report.
Without saying, the Owls could position themselves nicely by making a big impression with Justin on his visit. However he has no immediate plans to end the recruitment process. As of now, he also plans on taking official visits to Colorado and Utah this fall.
