Rice Football Set To Host Talented Campers

Why do college football programs all over the country host football camps every summer?
If you're the Rice Owls its because they've been very effective in finding excellent football recruits.

David Bailiff and his staff had a tremendous amount of success with their football camps in 2008. Signees that earned scholarships from camp performances last year included Jon Hodde, Alex Lowry, Cody Bauer, Charles Ross, Paul Porras, Leslie Frazier and Phillip Gaines.
In his 3rd year at Rice, the reigning C-USA Coach of the Year would like to repeat that trend in 2009 when the Owls host their first of several David Bailiff Football Camps Monday at Rice Stadium.
The Owls are expecting about a hundred campers on Monday, including several key recruits that could earn a Rice offer with a standout performance Monday.
Offensive standouts on the verge of receiving Owl offers that are expected to attend include Cuero QB Tyler Arndt, New Iberia (La.) Catholic QB Taylor Bullock, Woodlands Receiver Randy Knust, Giddings athlete Marcellus Mack, Fort Bend Kempner Running Back Josh Bell, Corpus Christi Carroll Running Back/Safety Jonathan Anderson, and Baytown Lee lineman Tim Smith.
Defensive stalwarts looking to earn offers include Dulles CB Zach McMillian, Baton Rouge Parkwiew Baptist LB Joey Fougerousse, Lafayette St. Thomas More Safety/LB Cameron Dejean, Corpus Christi Carroll lineman Ferrington Macon, and Jefferson two-way lineman Trevor Murphy.
Recruits already holding Rice offers that have indicated they will attend include Klein's Kevin Kisseberth, Katy's Sam Holl, Katy Taylor DT Nico Carlson, and Cy-Creek tackle Archie Muniz.
Camp begins at 10:00 am Monday and Owl Sports Watch will be on hand to capture all the day's best performances.
Rice Football will also host camps in Hutto, San Antonio, and Arlington next week.
